One of the most common questions I get concerning P90X is “do I have to do yoga?” The answer is a resounding YES! I often hear it is too long, too boring and too hard. This may be true for some P90Xers but in many ways yoga is the glue that holds the entire P90X program together. In fact when Tony Horton was asked if he was on deserted island and can only do one workout he immediately responded “yoga”.
Benefits of Yoga:
- Increased Strength
- Increased Flexibility
- Better Posture
- Better Breathing
- Stress Reduction
- Concentration
- Mood
In other words, yoga is the fountain of youth and “Yoga-X” is a vital part of the P90X program. With that said, the full 90 minute version is just not practical for some people. Luckily Tony Horton has several different alternatives to the marathon that is Yoga-X. Lets take a look at them.
P90X One on One – Fountain of Youth Yoga
At just over 45 minutes “Fountain of Youth” is a great alternative to “Yoga-X”. You will recognize many of the moves from “Yoga-X” and learn some new ones as well. ”Fountain of Youth” is a raw uncut video of Tony Horton doing a yoga workout by himself in his home. The pacing is great and this is one of my all-time favorite Beachbody workouts. ”Fountain of Youth” yoga gives you a great yoga workout in half the time of P90X “Yoga-X”.
P90X One on One -Patience Hummingbird Yoga
Tony gets back to basics, old school like 1,000 years back. In 30 minutes he works on his flexibility, and you will absolutely enjoy working out with him one on one. Even wildlife were trying to get a ticket to this session!
P90X One on One – Yoga:MC2
Yoga really is the fountain of youth. And the key to getting the most out of every movement? Focused breathing. Get ready for nuances not seen before, like lifted toes and hand placement for super intensity. Do NOT expect a walk in the park. This is P90X-style yoga, only more intense. It’s sun salutations with a lifted head and chaturanga with a toe roll. It’s fresh combinations to challenge your quads, butt, belly, and more. Exhale, relax: Strength, power, and flexibility lie just ahead.
Ala ke Kino – “Awaken the Day” with Tony Horton

Awaken your body and mind
Ho’ Ala ke Kino means “awaken the body,” and that’s exactly what you’ll experience through this remarkable program, performed in a beautiful island setting. Wake up your muscles in this one-of-a-kind, 30-minute routine created to help you:
- Improve health, flexibility, and coordination
- Open your body and mind to the day ahead
- Energize your morning
- Unwind after a long day
Whether you choose P90X – Yoga-X or one of these alternatives, it is imperative that include yoga as part of the P90X program!

You know I have always agreed that alternative was needed. Those who want to can do the 90 minute P90X version. The rest of us can dig into the One-on-One session which are reasonably within the 46-55 minute timeframe. Beachbody did a great job of listening to users’ feedback on this subject.
I always agreed with this. Those who wish to can do the full 90 minute P90X Yoga workout. The rest of us can dig into the One-on-One sessions which are reasonably within an under an hour (as little as 47 minutes) timeframe. Beachbody did a great job of listening to users’ feedback on this subject.
